Flattering mistakes
on 11/09/2014
I didn’t actually witness this one, but my mom told me about it later. Some people that we met at a concert that had heard that I was trans, mistook me for a FtM that hadn’t started transition yet. Best compliment ever!
Good one.
I love this comic.
Thanks for being there.
<3 Reminds me of when I was asked why I was on HRT at 27 by a doctor.. Passing is the best. <3
Oddly when I transitioned I chose the name Sarah. xD It’s what my mom would have called me if I hadn’t been cursed with the cripple Y, that should have been an X.
ANYWAYS. LOVE the comic. everything the style. the relatability its funny.
I’ll be waiting for the next one! 😀
“…she’s such a beautiful girl” seems to be all too common phrase my FtM friends hear. But yes passing, how sweet it feels. “…and how were the pregnancies? Any complications there?”
Ya, thats why I don’t even show people my old pictures if I can help it. (Oh you where so handsome) YA, number A A girl doesn’t necessarily want to be handsome… And number B tell that to all the strait girls that weren’t dating me.
I can barely imagine what you boys go threw. hugggssss
I love this comic, I can’t wait for the next one
Any way I can get updates for this?
I’ve actually had that reaction a couple of times, by people not realizing that I was MtF (not FtM) and telling me they “couldn’t see me as a guy”, because I “looked so feminine!”
It’s an awesome feeling, one that I would wish upon every one of my sisters out there.
Haha, I’ve had exactly this situation too! It’s great 🙂
Where this happens to me is that it is rather common for people to assume that I am my spouse’s adult daughter; occasionally, I am assumed to be her sister, and sometimes her girlfriend. This happened with a nurse at the hospital where my spouse was an in-patient. She usually tells nurses and doctors about our situation, but in this case, the nurse hadn’t “heard,” and so she asked me if I was her (my spouse’s) sister. I gently told her that I was actually her spouse, and that I am a transsexual woman.
This is adorable! Passing brings butterflies to my stomach. Keep up the great work!
I had this happen once. It was lovely. Someone asked why I used the men’s room at work (I was required to, I had asked HR for permission and they denied me AT FIRST). I told them I was transsexual and they said “But you’re such a girly girl! Why would you ever want to be a man!?” “Uh… I’m male to female… not female to male. I’m trying to be a girl…” “Oh… so why do you use the men’s restroom?” “Because they won’t let me use the ladies’ room.” “Aw, hon… that’s awful!” Made me feel validated and mad at my workplace all at once XD
I agree with Mira.
Being called “but she is such a beautiful girl” when your FtM is hard since people don’t see it your way.
I would know since my dad has said that and sometimes he hates that I want to be a boy all because I don;t feel like a girl.
I am glad you pass. 😀
This is the comic entry that got me to start reading.
